Frequently Asked Questions

What is HEA?

HEA stands for Happily Ever After—but not the fairy-tale version we grew up with. Most of us watched Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, or similar stories where one fight happens, someone rescues you, and then everything is perfect forever. Those stories resonated because we all want to feel loved, cherished, and chosen.

The problem is… most of us weren’t modeled that kind of love at home. And life has changed—a lot. Both partners are often working, kids and responsibilities pile up, and phones give little dopamine hits like candy at a ‘90s birthday. Connection gets lost, and old patterns we learned as kids show up in our relationships without us even noticing.

HEA is designed to give you a real framework for connection and love that actually works. It’s built around 8 pillars I’ve seen every couple I’ve worked with need. Each pillar builds on the others and leans on each other, creating a foundation for lasting relational capacity and a truly resilient connection.

Here’s how it works:

  • Live Zoom calls once a week where we go through the pillars, exercises, and discussions.

  • Telegram support in between calls (like WhatsApp) where you get prompts, exercises, and a space to check in. This helps you see what works—or doesn’t—for you and your relationship, so the learning feels personal and practical.

HEA isn’t about fixing a single problem or avoiding fights. It’s about creating the skills, capacity, and identity to make your own HEA—together—real in your day-to-day life.

What makes it different to the millions of other programs out there?

HEA isn’t theory—it’s the distilled work of 20+ years working with families, 13 years in private practice, and my own experience raising kids and being married.

What makes it unique:

  • Practical tools that are proven / work—not just ideas, but strategies that have transformed real relationships.

  • Telegram support between sessions—so we can see what works for you and adapt, making it personal.

  • Small, supportive community—you’re part of a group of people going through the same things.

  • Focus on the pillars that matter in modern marriages—capacity, identity, nervous-system awareness, and emotional skills.

This is the best-of-the-best from private practice, now available in a small group experience designed to actually work in real life.

After being a play therapist (working with children) I quickly recognized how, by helping the parents, many children didn't need therapy anymore. So I then shifted my focus on to couples and relationship work and have crafted my skills over the last decade studying under the top names in the field, and seeing clients internationally.

What if I'm / we're not married? Can I still attend?

Yes. HEA works for anyone in a committed relationship - married, dating, or living together. The focus is on patterns, capacity, and presence, not legal status.

And even if your partner isn’t participating, your work will still ripple into the relationship.

Does my partner have to do the program with me?

No. There are participants who complete HEA on their own and see big shifts. Couples benefit when both participate, but the work you do individually is enough to start changing how you show up and how your partner responds.

I've noticed that one can be so struck by what you learn here, that you can't help but share it with your partner, and so they, benefit from it even in that way too.

What if my partner is avoidant / doesn't speak much about his / her feelings?

Absolutely. Many partners are quiet or uncomfortable talking about feelings.

HEA helps you both understand:

  • Why they shut down (and why you possibly pursue);

  • Why they struggle with emotional expression (why it hurts you when they don't);

  • How patterns show up in your relationship (both of yours).

This insight improves connection without forcing conversation. It’s about understanding, capacity, and relationship skills—not talking just to talk.

Is this a good option if we're in crisis and on the brink of divorce or separated?

If you two are in therapy working on your triggers and are able to be in the room without it becoming a heightened situation then it can be very insightful to see your patterns, and what floors of the relationship need to be worked on. But if things are volatile or if there is any abuse / active addictions then I recommend individual sessions with a local therapist in your area first. You can do this on your own if you wanted to learn more about relationships but I don't recommend it as a couple then.

Is HEA Christian based?

Yes. HEA is for Christian participants. Faith and God are part of how I understand relationships and healing, and I speak about God freely and naturally in this space.

That said, this is not a Bible study or a theological program. The framework is not built on scripture lessons, but on practical psychology-based relationship skills, emotional capacity, and real-life application.

If your faith matters to you and you want a space where God can be part of the conversation - without pressure, preaching, or performance - this will feel like a safe and natural fit.

If you’re looking for a purely secular program, HEA may not be the right space for you. I work with anyone from any background and beliefs generally, but have found that HEA as a spiritually-Christian safe space has been appreciated by all the participants so far.

Are the sessions recorded?

Yes. All sessions are recorded so you can rewatch later and refresh your memory. We cover a lot of material, and each time you revisit it, something new will stand out.

Even if you’re camera shy, I encourage you to turn your video on when you can. It’s a small, intentional group, and seeing each other helps build community. Everyone is here for similar reasons, and I maintain strict guidelines to ensure a safe, supportive space.

Why is it priced differently for individuals or couples?

If both partners participate in calls and Telegram, the program includes extra guidance and exercises to synchronize two nervous systems and relational patterns.

To honor everyone’s time and the added complexity, couples are charged a bit more than individuals.

If they just wish to watch the recordings and work with your workbook - they are welcome to do so without paying for the couples rate. The couples rate is for couples participating together.

How long is the program?

HEA is an 8-week experience with live sessions, exercises, and reflective prompts to integrate the work into your life.

Telegram is open for 9 weeks to give you enough time to ask any questions about the work we did. The more you participate, the more you tend to integrate what you learn.

There is also a membership afterwards for members that wish to continue with the community established in the 8 weeks.

How much time do I need to block out weekly?

Expect 1–1,5 hours for live sessions plus 30–60 minutes of practice and reflection.

Exercises are flexible to fit busy schedules.

Do you need to have had prior counseling?

No. These are the pillars of a solid relationship and I look forward to helping you learn about yourselves and your relationships here.

Previous therapy can help, but it’s not required.

What is Telegram?

Telegram is a private, secure chat platform (like WhatsApp) where participants get prompts, exercises, and group support between sessions. It’s where we practice, reflect, and get guidance in real time so the program feels personal and actionable.

Do you give refunds?

Refunds have never been needed. Because HEA is a live program and takes time and care to create, we generally don’t offer refunds.

That said, I welcome any questions before you sign up- please reach out at info@thecouplesconnection.com.

Feedback is also welcome and appreciated throughout the program, and because the groups are small, each session can be as personalized as possible for everyone.

What others have to say...

Happily Ever After does NOT only belong to fairytales.
